Streams cascade down the lakeland fells transforming the still water tarns into dancing tumbling torrents.
The weather constantly

changes sometimes shrouding the hills in dense mists which part momentarily to afford glimpses of distant hills and dales,
or
rays of sunshine will focus on forgotten hillsides enlivening them with its light.

I have become fascinated by the transformation that take place as the static waters of the often dark overshadowed tarns takes on a vibrant life tumbling down the gills and gullies into the dales and my most recent work explores this
dramatic change.

The following images have been painted this fall and are on their way to Castlegate House. Most are painted from a walk in wet and windy weather along from the Honister to Haystacks and back along Moses Trod. They are a series of glimpses between lowering clouds and driving rain, but the light when it did break through produced magical reflections on Innominate tarn. They can be seen on the Castlegate web site at www.castlegatehouse.co.uk
