Scotland
The North West coast is over hung by huge mountains which together withthe sweeping seas give a vibrant luminosity to the landscape
I have tried using dry oil paint dragged across handmade paper for some of the images feeling that the broken quality of the mark would help recreate the sparkling quality of the light
My most recent trip has been to the windswept coast of South Harris where the changing lights and colours along the miles of sandy beaches was breathtaking

of Mull form the basis of my most recent exhibition at the Maltby. The contrast
between the dark basalt cliffs of Gribbon Head and Staffa, passed on the boat
from Ulva ferry, and the gentle coral sands and fresh soft greens of Iona remain
a constant inspiration.
I have just returned from the Hebrides. These have still to find their way onto
canvas!Horizontal gales ,turquoise seas, dark hills and coral sands have so
far only drifted across sheets of watercolour paper.
